A road trip to Four Corners.

Day one: Denver to Durango.

In which we pick up A-yi, eat at KFC, visit the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, cross into Pagoda country, drop by Chimney Rock National Monument, and overnight in Durango.

Day two: Durango & Silverton narrow gauge railroad, then Cortez.

In which we take the Durango to Silverton narrow gauge railway and then drive to a Chinese dinner in Cortez.

Day three: Mesa Verde National Park and the Four Corners.

In which we check out of our gigantic hotel rooms in Cortez and tour Mesa Verde National Park before Apple Maps fails us and leads us astray en route to the Four Corners. Google maps and 8$ pp later, we straddled the states and were eating fry bread. And then it was on to Moab.

Day four: Arches National Park.

A pre-dawn hike with A-yi to the delicate arch with a delicious breakfast back at the hotel. Then an entire day spent touring Arches followed by dinner in a cute Mexican restaurant with great chips, but ok food.

Day five: Colorado Monument National Park and back to Denver.

Another great breakfast in Moab before driving north and then west back to Denver, with a drive through the Colorado Monument National Park and lunch at McDonald’s in Grand Junction.
